Q: Can I model a process with a custom vapor source?
AWith a V-Grade 5S program you can model any custom vapor source (not in the "pre-build" library). Simply place defining values in an easy-to-follow array form and import it into your V-Grade 5S rogram. The programs can take sources with any uncommon geometric shapes and surface curvatures.

Q: How do I model a curved a substrate surface?
A: A curved substrate is defined by a series of Cartesian-coordinate sampling points, each of which is associated with two angle values that specify the surface normal direction. Similar to custom sources, you may construct such a surface in an easy-to-follow array form (with the help of any third-party spreadsheet application, such as Excel) and then read into a V-Grade 5S program.

Q: Is my data safe running a V-Grade 5S program?
A: Because V-Grade 5S programs do not require an internet connection to install or to run, your data is unexposed to any hacking risks.

Q: If I upgrade to V-Grade Pro or V-Grade 5S Plus can I open old experiments saved with V-Grade 5
A:  Yes, you can open experiments that you built and saved with V-Grade 5. In other words, V-Grade 5S Pro and V-Grade 5S Plus are retro compatible.

Q: In a program of the V-Grade 5S series, can I directly open surface files that I saved with V-Grade 5
A: Yes, you can open them directly. You cannot, however, directly open old configuration or mask files as there have been formatting changes. To convert these old component files you should open them within experiments then re-save the components (in your program of the V-Grade 5S series).

Q: Does it take a long time to learn a program in the V-Grade 5S family?
A:  No. Given their extensive features and capabilities, they are very intuitive and easy to use. If you follow the "Quick Starter" manual sections and build-in examples you will begin to study your own cases within minutes.

Q: Does the computation take a long time?
A: The computation time ranges from few seconds to a few minutes, depending on the case. For an evaporation-mode case it typically takes a few seconds; for a sputtering source to coat a large two-dimensional surface in a planet fixture, it can take a few minutes.

Q: What license terms are available?
A: We currently offer 1-year and 2-year, and perpetual licenses of V-Grade 5S series programs.

Q: How is a license controlled?
A: You will be provided with a USB license key (a thumb-drive like device) with the software.
